Very happy with my purchase. Oct 30, 2011
By J. Thompson I purchased this Citizen to replace another diver's watch that ran on batteries. I bought this model because of the Eco Drive feature. I've lost two watches due to the o rings being replaced after several years and both leaked afterward. I'm glad I no longer have to cross my fingers and hope for the best anymore.
After a month, I really like the watch. It's tough, accurate, comfortable, and attractive. No complaints so far.

Great Watch !! Nov 07, 2011
By Andrew Magnowski I was looking for nearly 2 weeks for the best watch that fit all the objectives of my search and I came across this time piece. This watch is handsome as well as accurate. The watch is a little big, but I have a pretty thick wrist so it fits appropriately. The band has a comfortable feel to it.
Definitely recommend this product.

Awesome watches Dec 04, 2011
By KU This watch is great. I've had it for a couple weeks and wear it everyday. I would expect nothing less out of a Citizen.
Great watch for taller guys! Mar 18, 2012
By KAT I bought this watch for my husband. He wanted a cool looking sports watch that didn't look like a child's watch on him - he is 6'6. He had tried on a few "fashion" watches at a department store and they barely fit around his wrist. He loves Citizens and although I was hesitant to buy a watch online, this was perfect! The watch is heavy and the face elevates nicely off the wrist.
Excellent design betrayed by some unexpected flaws Feb 04, 2012
By Colby D. May This really should be a five-star watch, but some little annoyances bring the rating down to four stars. And to be fair, if I didn't *love* the styling of this watch so much, it might have gotten dropped to three stars.
I have owned many Citizen watches over the years and generally have been impressed with their finish and craftsmanship. Citizen is particularly adept at manufacturing quartz movements with oodles of complications and having them work flawlessly. I've found, however, that the Citizen movements I've been least satisfied with are their simplest, of which the one in this Promaster diver is an example. While I have no doubt it will run well and reliably for many years, it will do so in a somewhat crude fashion. Case in point: a "jiggly" minutes hand that depending on the angle of the wearer's wrist might register a time reading +/- 30 seconds from what it should be. This is not surprising, however, as other simple three-hand Citizen Eco-Drive movements have shown the same behavior. On the plus side, the seconds hand is pretty solid and doesn't jitter or miss many of the marks on the dial.
I'm also perplexed that an ISO-rated diver's watch would come equipped with a plastic crown. Yes...PLASTIC. While it may appear to be black-ion-plated metal with a shiny metal center, it isn't, and you know it the moment you unscrew it to set the time. I can only hope that the threads (which you cannot see as the crown's sleeve extends into the case even when it's fully unscrewed) are metal. Extra care should be taken when unscrewing the crown and reseating it.
This is my second example of this particular watch (purchased from Princeton Watches, who exchanged the first for the second without pain or fuss) because the first came with some unexplained marks on the sides and underside of the case, as well as (in my opinion) a significantly misaligned bezel--its markings were about 1/4-minute off compared to the dial's markings. The second watch sports a bezel that is better aligned, though still not perfect, and some uneven surfaces in the steel surrounding the screw-down caseback. The lume application on the hands also appears to be a little thin, but it still glows brightly enough when charged. And the brushing of the steel on one of the lugs is not quite perfect. The fact that I have had two examples of this watch, each with its own minor defects, leads me to believe Citizen needs to tighten up on its QC, at least for this particular model.
Not all is grim with this watch, however. As I stated earlier, the design really sends me. The combination of ion-plated and high-polished steel on the sides of the case is attractive and is nicely executed. The patterned dial looks expensive and radiates light in a very appealing way. The crystal is slightly domed and has an AR coating which I believe is on the crystal's inside surface, which is preferable. The quality of the lume is excellent, and Citizen's choice to combine their signature blue-hued lume (on the hour markers) with a more traditional green lume (found on the hands and the 60-minute marker on the bezel) is a winner. The rubber strap is incredibly soft and flexible, which makes it extremely comfortable on the wrist. It fastens with a beefier-than-expected steel buckle with a Promaster logo etched onto it. Cosmetically, there is a ton to like about this watch.
I'm thankful that I got a better example of this model in place of the first one I received, yet I wish I could get one that's perfect as one should be coming out of the box brand new. Maybe for the money, however, I'm expecting too much. Then again, maybe not--my Citizen Promaster SST is an exquisite timepiece with an extremely high level of fit, finish and accuracy, and it only cost $100 or so more than this diver. Either way, I will enjoy my new toy and surely will not be disappointed with its accuracy or reliability.
