There's nothing like a G-Shock Dec 20, 2008

I've only had my new G-shock for a day, but it is exactly what I was looking for; a super rugged watch that looks as good with jeans and a t-shirt as it does with dress pants and a button down. The functions took a little while to figure out, and I'm still not too sure about the auto calibration that'll keep me entertained for a little while, but over all a great watch. This is the 3rd G-Shock I've had and I swear by them now. The first was lost in a car accident. The second I'm fairly sure was done in by water damage but that was only due to the fact that I finally had to have the battery replaced which compromises the seal. Now with the solar charging battery this thing should be bomb proof!!
The only real complaint I have is that for a $400 (retail price) watch it came in the standard Casio packaging like you would get from the case at your local Wal-Mart. I really expected it to come in some type of nice gift box. I'm just glad I wasn't giving it as a gift!!!

Form, Function, and Style Jan 21, 2010
By nb9001 This watch has stunning good looks (to me anyway) and G-shock toughness. I wanted an analog watch for formal occasions with the features and durability of a G-shock and I'm not disappointed. Honestly it's too nice to be a daily wearer for me. Note that this isn't really a "dress" watch, it's a good-looking G-shock with a metal link band. Formal enough for me. The solar power and atomic timekeeping work as advertised. I have another solar Casio so I'm used to taking off the watch and leaving it near a window at night. Some things to be aware of: be prepared to spend time with the manual to figure out how to set it and use various features such as stopwatch and alarm. These functions are intuitive on my GW800 but somehow the analog equivalents take some figuring out. Also the large second hand isn't really a second-hand, it's a function indicator. That took awhile to get used to. Finally, the metal band is large and I had to take it to a jeweler to have links removed. That wasn't much of a hassle, but if you're used to sports watches with resin bands it might be a surprise that it doesn't fit out of the box.

Good deal Jul 11, 2009

Good deal and price for this g-shock. I've been looking for a sportif, atomic, solar battery and reliable watch. after reading some reviews at Amazon.com I decided to buy this G-Shock Giez and I'm very happy with my choice.
The CONs are: the not so good synch through atomic clock; and the not so friendly menu.
