Description

About Orient: Orient Watch was formally established in July 13th, 1950 in Tokyo. However, the history of Orient Watch really dates back to 1901, when Shogoro Yoshida, the founder of Orient, opened a wholesale watch store in Ueno, Japan. Orient Watch has always focused on mechanical watches, primarily automatic watches with its own in-house automatic movements Orient was once part of the "Big Three" watch companies in Japan along with Citizen and Seiko. In the 70s, when mechanical watch companies faced hardship from the mass introduction of inexpensive quartz watches, Citizen and Seiko took the path of mass producing quartz watches, Orient stuck with what it did best, making mechanical watches. Today, Seiko owns a controlling stake in Orient. Orient, however, continues to make its own mechanical movements. For its quartz models, it uses Seiko's quartz movements. What sets Orient apart from other watch companies is really the fact that Orient has always been focusing on making its mechanical movements better and more reliable. It is unusual today to find a watch company that makes its own movement selling watches at prices offered by Orient. Most of the watch companies that do make in-house movements are big name specialized watch companies such as Patek Philippe whose watches ranges from tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. To find a specialized watch company that uses in-house movements selling its watches at prices that are affordable to most people is truly refreshing.

4Typical Japanese Quality  Dec 07, 2009 By James A. Robertson
I'm a big fan of Japanese products. And I'm a bigger fan of Japanese horological products. I've been a watch maker for some years now and I have worked on many Swiss, German and Japanese movements. All three make a outstanding movement in higher end watches. Orient offers a very affordable product that is of good quality. Unlike most Swiss and German companies,(mid range) Orient manufactures their own movement. Nothing fancy in their affordable movements, but they are very well designed and accuracy is very good as well. This particular watch is unique in its day-date feature and the overall quality of the watch is a great bargain.

4Pleasantly surprised...  Nov 03, 2010 By W. Klingler
I received this watch as a gift, it is my introduction to Automatic Watches and I am very pleased with it given the inexpensive price. All the markings on the face are raised giving the watch a very classy look. I also am not a fan of the huge watches that seem to be everywhere right now, so this is a nice size that fits my wrist. It also gets a lot of comments and looks. I am very pleased with this watch.

5All what I wanted for a small price  Jan 17, 2011 By Dilum Bandara
This is an excellent deal. I get good feedback.
Watch has a nice look & feel, good fit, not heavy, seems to be hardy, stainless steel belt is easily adjustable (no need to go to a watch repair place), luminous hands, & winding holds till next day (about 15 hours).
It comes with a nice box & user guide. Grate for a gift.

5Great watch  Jan 08, 2011 By Pete's Auto And Rv "Pete"
This has been a great watch. I seem to be hard on watches that have batteries. They generally last about 6 mos. I have had this one for about that long now and I am hard on them and no problems what so ever. I would and will buy another.

4Wish it were brighter at night  Aug 29, 2010 By Q. Chen
I like the design and look of the watch, simple and neat. It runs very well, pretty accurately. The only complaint is the needles are hardly visible in the darkness after a few hours (although they are visible right after you turn off the light). Getting up midnight, can't really tell the time by looking at the watch. Wish it could be brighter and brightness could have lasted longer!
