| | Description | About Orient: Orient Watch was formally established in July 13th, 1950 in Tokyo. However, the history of Orient Watch really dates back to 1901, when Shogoro Yoshida, the founder of Orient, opened a wholesale watch store in Ueno, Japan. Orient Watch has always focused on mechanical watches, primarily automatic watches with its own in-house automatic movements Orient was once part of the "Big Three" watch companies in Japan along with Citizen and Seiko. In the 70s, when mechanical watch companies faced hardship from the mass introduction of inexpensive quartz watches, Citizen and Seiko took the path of mass producing quartz watches, Orient stuck with what it did best, making mechanical watches. Today, Seiko owns a controlling stake in Orient. Orient, however, continues to make its own mechanical movements. For its quartz models, it uses Seiko's quartz movements. What sets Orient apart from other watch companies is really the fact that Orient has always been focusing on making its mechanical movements better and more reliable. It is unusual today to find a watch company that makes its own movement selling watches at prices offered by Orient. Most of the watch companies that do make in-house movements are big name specialized watch companies such as Patek Philippe whose watches ranges from tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. To find a specialized watch company that uses in-house movements selling its watches at prices that are affordable to most people is truly refreshing. | |

Orient CEM6002 white dial Jun 29, 2010
By Taffy

This watch has a very attractive satin white dial. It has a rotating bezel under the crystal that can be moved by the stem at the four o'clock position. The button at the two o'clock position changes the day of the week. The bracelet is very nice with alternating rows of polished and bright segments.

Beautiful watch, outstanding quality, great vendor! Jun 14, 2011
By Alex Ryan I purchased this because my Invicta sub was starting to take a beating and I wanted another automatic to put in rotation. I was pricing Seiko's for two weeks and just couldn't decide on a model. I wanted something with a silver or white face. I was aware of Orients reputation as a great quality automatic watch and I was especially impressed that they still use their own in-house movement design. I happened upon this watch accidentally and fell in love with it's appearance. The silver and black face were equally handsome but the silver face was the one for me. The vendor shipped from California and I had it on the east coast in 3 days AND I was ordering over the weekend. Big kudos to Just Calculators for fantastic standard shipping. The watch was brand new and flawless. I took it out of the box, shook it gently to get the movement going, set the day/date/time and away we went. The links on this bracelet have a unique design that was much easier to size myself than the standard pin type arrangement on most cheaper watches. Bottom line, this is a beautiful automatic watch that is a STEAL for 60 bucks. Quality wise, it beats my Invicta 8926 OB hands down. The bracelet was flawless, the crystal was so clear as to be invisible (my Invicta actually looks stained in direct sunlight) and it keeps damn good time. So far it hasn't lost a second. I have it set to my computer and it's dead nuts after 48 hours.
It's a keeper and I'm seriously thinking about replacing my Invicta with the Orient Sub.

Absolute stunner Jul 31, 2011
By vandevan I simply fell in love with the image of this watch. Ordered and received it within 3 days in a nice box. My expectations were not belied. The bright white dial and the shiny bracelet exude an elegant and eye-catching exuberance. I removed a few links and adjusted it to my wrist. I did not have the right tools but still managed to do it with only a Jeweller's screw driver. You can only remove the links with a small hole on the back of the bracelet. An arrow beside the small hole indicates the direction in which you have to use the tool to push out the wedge. Remove two adjacent wedges and you can easily find out how to remove the link. After removing enough links push the wedge back in to secure it. A jeweller who can't examine the bracelet and guess how to remove the links must be an idiot.
Well, I just love the watch. It is definitely not a cheap china-made watch. It is 100% Orient, Orient. Orient.

Great buy Good Watch Sep 24, 2011
By Just A Buyer I have both the white and black faced dials . I like the white better since it is a little easier for me to read but if you like a black dial you won't go wrong here. I really like the rotating bezel inside the crystal for timing short events such as baking etc.. This watch appears to be very well made and has made me a fan of Orient watches . Everything functions perfectly and the gain in time is about 1 1/2 to 2 min a month for the white dial and maybe 4 minutes a month for the black dial I have . All automatic watches will gain a little time and these are exceptionally good about not gaining much. I have read many reviews on other brands costing more that list a gain of 2-3 min a day . It is easy to set the date, day, and time. The luminous markers work fine too . I couldn't be more pleased with it at the price . For those worried about sizing the band don't be. It has fairly common wedges that you remove to shorten the band . On the back of the band you will see arrows showing the direction to remove the wedge and each wedge has a small bump on it. If you have a small straight point screw driver put the end behind the wedge, turn left, then right until the wedge comes out enough to grasp with a small pair of needle nose pliers . Then pull straight out . You have to remove two wedges for the first link to be removed and then one for each additional ink. Just pay attention to how the links come off the wedge and when it's your size put the required wedge back in and it's sized. I removed two links from mine with no problem but was surprised that the wedges were as large and strong as they were . Both legs on these wedges go all the way through the band which makes the needle nosed pliers necessary to pull them out. I purchased an Orient watch for my wife and each wedge had only one leg and could be removed with my fingers once clear of the band edge . I included this description since one reviewer indicated their jeweler couldn't figure out how to size the band . Any Jeweler who can't figure that out shouldn't be in business. I also didn't want anyone to pass a great buy due to the ignorance of someone else . If you don't want to size the band yourself it can be sized by any reputable jeweler for a fee of course . I just like doing my own STUFF if possible . A lot of old retired people are like that . I'm very pleased with both watches and no batteries to buy .

Orient / Great Watches Apr 26, 2011
By gabound This was my first Orient. I had done a lot of research on automatic watches. As you study more, Orient's name comes up as a quality, fair priced product. I love the fact that this little machine is a piece of mechanical art. I have recently bought the Mako XL diver, but this guy get lots of wrist time. The only thing I wish was that this watch was bigger. 41 mm is ok but a little larger would be great. For the money, it is a best buy. I get compliments all the time. The white satin face is unique. I recommend this watch and company.
