| | Description | About Orient: Orient Watch was formally established in July 13th, 1950 in Tokyo. However, the history of Orient Watch really dates back to 1901, when Shogoro Yoshida, the founder of Orient, opened a wholesale watch store in Ueno, Japan. Orient Watch has always focused on mechanical watches, primarily automatic watches with its own in-house automatic movements Orient was once part of the "Big Three" watch companies in Japan along with Citizen and Seiko. In the 70s, when mechanical watch companies faced hardship from the mass introduction of inexpensive quartz watches, Citizen and Seiko took the path of mass producing quartz watches, Orient stuck with what it did best, making mechanical watches. Today, Seiko owns a controlling stake in Orient. Orient, however, continues to make its own mechanical movements. For its quartz models, it uses Seiko's quartz movements. What sets Orient apart from other watch companies is really the fact that Orient has always been focusing on making its mechanical movements better and more reliable. It is unusual today to find a watch company that makes its own movement selling watches at prices offered by Orient. Most of the watch companies that do make in-house movements are big name specialized watch companies such as Patek Philippe whose watches ranges from tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars. To find a specialized watch company that uses in-house movements selling its watches at prices that are affordable to most people is truly refreshing. | |

Great look, but inaccurate Apr 30, 2010 I like so much this watch, it looks great, but it has a really big problem for me, it's very inaccurate. I have other automatic watches (including another Orient) and all of them are very accurate. If I adjust the watch, in two days I have 5 to 10 minutes over! I can live with that, however I think that it's too much for a new quality watch.

One of Best Watches I Own Apr 28, 2010 I have heard a lot about this watch and just had to have one. I had one person say the bezel was hard to turn. Well use it a while and it is actually smoother than my Rolex GMT Master and that is a fact. The night illumination is on par or better than the Seiko Orange Monster and time can be clearly seen all night long.
I believe the rubber strap with the Blue Mako Shark on it looks better and is more functional than the steel watch band model.
The in-house 21 jewel movement keeps great time and is on par with the Seiko 5 movement.
The watch face is beautiful and looks even better than the Omega Seamaster for my taste.
It is very useful with the 200 meter water resistance as a dive watch and with the bezel great for other activities like aviation which require a good functional bezel. The one way bezel prevents it from being accidentally turned after set for timing.
Good day of week and date windows.
If you have a chance and the money to purchase one do not hesitate. I have over 70 watches last count from great Timexes to Rolex and this is a great watch period.

I like it. Feb 25, 2010 I've had this watch for several months now. I like it. I wear it everyday. I travel with it. I snorkel with it. It keeps good time. It's a good looking watch. It's a mechanical watch that requires that it be worn to keep it wound. I like that. And the last thing, it's inexpensive. Thumbs up on this one.
