The SNA283 features a black dial background with gold tone Arabic numerals and three subdials. The chronograph can measure up to 60 minutes in 1/5-second increments, and the alarm hands can indicate the time in a different time zone. It has a dark gray TICN (titanium/carbon/nitride) plating on the watch case and bracelet band, which is accented with polished gold-tone highlights. The large, round watch case measures 1.6 inches in diameter. The gunmetal black dial is accented by gold tone dial markers and large silver-tone luminous hands (with second hand). My wife bought this watch for me a little over 3 years ago, and I love it. Considering I tend to forget to take it off when I do home projects and the like, the fact it shows little to no wear, is a testament to the quality of construction. If you're looking for a beautiful watch with excellent craftsmanship, this is the one.

When shopping around for a new watch, this model fit the bill perfectly. Analogue face, with additional functions (date, stopwatch, alarm), waterproof, in a perfectly sized case.
The bonus is the finish - black (very dark grey?) with gold details. I thought all metal cased watches these days are silver or gold with little variation, so it was a nice surprise to find this model.
One slight gotcha - what appears to be the "second" hand on the face is not actually the second hand. It is used for the stopwatch. There is a smaller face (located at 9 o'clock on the main dial) that counts the seconds. A little odd, but not a big deal.
Still very happy with the product. All this and got it half price from Amazon. Nice one.

The only catch that i see is it's weight, which is above espected but, on the other hand, the person who received it as a gift loves the watch so... it deserver 5 stars for me.
BTW, you can see titanium tags but i can't see any titanium in here...

According to Amazon I ordered this item from Amazon directly in 2005, so I've owned it atleast 6 years.
The good; still runs great, still waterproof, no leaks. The finish and trim are pretty eye catching, even though i think it's banged up now, people still compliment how nice the watch looks.
The bad; the finish is just a coating, it does eventually wear through after several years, revealing the stainless steel base. This is most noticeable on the underside of the bracelet, so it's not obvious. I believe this finish is also used on several other models of seiko watches.
Also if you use the stopwatch function, the battery wears out faster. I've had to replace the battery something like 3 times already.
Other notes; The band/case material is NOT titanium. I think the titanium just refers to the coating color. As noted above, underneath the coating it's stainless steel.
The crystal material is fairly scratch resistant, it had only fine hairline scratches for some years, until i scraped it against the road while crawling around underneath my car.
The clasp also doesn't hold well anymore. I think a jeweler could fix it but given the condition, it's probably not worth it now. I just ordered another Seiko instead. :)
