Seiko Solar Shines Oct 08, 2011
By Daniel S. Perrin The reviewer R. Liston is correct about the color of the dial - it is black not blue, as I stated in my comment of his review. Otherwise the picture of the watch is correct. The watch band pictured e.g. is the same. The black dial color did not prevent me from keeping this beautiful Seiko. I submitted a request for a product change to amazon so we will see if their customer service is on the ball, and makes a change to the description and picture. If you Google the model number and go to Princeton watches you can see how this watch actually looks.
I would describe its appearance as casually elegant, and would say it has a style appropriate for anything other than sports (though it is water proof down to 30 meters (about 100 feet.) I bet it would even look great with a black tux. It keeps perfect time, too.
It comes with an English/Spanish operation manual, and can be registered online at Seiko's website. I purchased mine from amazon for eighty-eight dollars and eighty-two cents, about 3 weeks ago (September 2011). Amazon is an authorized Seiko dealer, however buying online from some company where amazon says "sold by so and so" and "fulfilled by amazon" is not the same thing. Mine was "sold and fulfilled by amazon," and that is the safest way to go to make sure you do not get a counterfeit (I wrote to Seiko customer service about my fear that I might get a counterfeit, and that was their reply, i.e. buy their watches from one of their authorized dealers.)
My first Seiko was lost when the jeweler sent it to Seiko to replace the band. He gave me a choice of any Seiko watch as a replacement and the one I chose is still working after 40 years (it loses a few minutes a day and the crystal is cracked.)
This classic one is a solar watch that shines, five stars all the way, and can be recharged through artificial or natural light. As soon as I held it under a regular light bulb, it started to move at 2 second intervals, then after it was under there for an hour or so, as the operation manual stated, it started to move in one second intervals, indicating it was fully charged.
I am 65 years old, but would be surprised if it did not last me the rest of my life. I may have to get a new rechargeable battery after a time, but other than that, I see no maintenance or repair, and would recommend this watch to anyone. You will have to take it to a jeweler to get a few links removed from the band to make it fit your wrist. That added just five bucks to the cost.

Can't beat Seiko! Jan 10, 2012
By wileykyotee This is perhaps my sixth purchase of a Seiko watch, and my first solar watch. The design is stylish and distinctive. A beautiful watch! And talk about accuracy...like all my Seiko watches before, it's set it and forget it! Did I mention that it's solar? No more batteries to replace! Five stars, folks. No foolin'.

Buyer Beware Sep 20, 2011

"WYSIWYG"
SNE034 has a black dial, not a blue dial as illustrated and described. Why don't they correct this? I sent mine back.
