| | Description | About Seiko: In 1877, at the age of 18, Kintaro Hattori set up business repairing the Western-style clocks that were becoming increasingly popular in Japan. By 1892, Hattori was manufacturing his own clocks in a factory he called Seikosha, from the words "seiko" meaning "exquisite," "success," or "miniature," and "sha" meaning "house." The company grew and prospered, producing its first wristwatch in 1913 and launching the Seiko brand in 1924. Technological innovation has always been a driving force in the company's history. Key milestones include Seiko's introduction of the world's first quartz watch in 1969, and its successful launch, in 1988, of the Kinetic, the world's first battery-free watch with quartz accuracy. Recognized for its technological excellence, Seiko has provided timekeeping services for the Olympic Games and the World Cup Soccer Championships. Today, the Seiko brand continues to stand for state-of-the-art technology, as well as superior quality and refined design. | |

My first Seiko solar watch, and not the last Jul 05, 2011
By Ron Walsh I have been reading about the new line of Seiko solar watch for some time, but most of the styles that were offered were rather plain and ordinary. When I came across this watch, I had to try it out. After ordering it from Princeton Watches (through Amazon) the watch arrived quickly, and with all tags and paperwork intact.
I particularly like the orange face of the watch as well as the hands. The luminous markers glow nicely and for quite a while during the night. The strap is one of the good quality Seiko straps, and should last quite a while. The bezel rotates smoothly and positively.
Setting the time and date is very easy and intuitive. Simply unscrew the crown and pull out to the first stop for setting the day and date, pull again to set the time.
Perhaps it is just me, but one thing that I would change on the watch is the chrome plated case. I think it would look better if it was a satin finish, as I said this is just my opinion.
If you are looking for a good quality casual watch that will never require batteries, look no further.

shining new addition to seiko line Feb 18, 2012
By Seamaster This solar-charging quartz dive-style watch will be a fine sports timepiece for anyone who wants superior water resistence and timing accuracy combined with shiny good looks. The SNE-109 is 42mm across and 11mm thick, with a rounded, streamlined, polished case that puts this watch in the dress-sport category, not the clunky monster class--Large enough to be current and stylish, but not ostentatiously overpowering. The dial color is more pale orange than bold, and the luminous material on the hands and markers is right there with the best of Seiko's divers. Downsides? The rubber strap that comes with this watch is stiff as a board. It might ease up over time, after lots of exposure to sun and salt water, but I doubt it. The strap is also visually too small for the watch, IMHO, so I also ordered the solid steel bracelet made as a replacement for the Orange and Black Seiko Monster divers. These bracelets have a 20mm end link to fit this watch, but that end link also flares at the watch head to 22mm, which makes it visually more compatible with the size of this watch. The Monster bracelet also has a nice combination of polished and brushed elements that fit well with the surface finish of the watch. Removing links from this bracelet is tricky, so check out online tutorials before you try it yourself. The links contain very small split sleeves that are easily lost when the link pins are removed, and the danged little sleeves are essential for holding the bracelet together! I also find that the rotating bezel, at least on my watch, turns too easily, so you can inadvertantly change the bezel setting with realizing it. But other than those two items, I am very happy with this solar Seiko, and I hope Seiko continues to expand its solar line of watches with more variety.

Seiko SNE 109 Dive Watch + Amazon -- Great Combo to Get What You want Jan 07, 2012
By Robin My husband wanted a dive watch with easily read dials and an easy-to-use bezel - and, most importantly, solar power (too many of his watches died after a battery replacement)! I wanted a rock bottom price. After visiting stores in the US and Bahamas and several websites, I made the purchase on Amazon. I exceeded ALL of our wants - it even looks great. My husband loves the watch which he wears for scuba, skiing, skeet shooting, watching football, and napping of course!

This watch rocks... Jan 19, 2012
By D. Janik I have to say that Seiko has done a great job in the design of this watch. The orange dial enhances the markers, hands and second hand in a way that it is very easy to read. The stainless steal bezel is sharp-looking and very durable. The solar feature is the best part as I've grown weary of replacing batteries that have become expensive over the years. No more worries about that! I'm not a diver but have always been attracted to this style of watch--it's great for everyday use and I plan to get several years of service from it without a hitch. You won't be disappointed!

TamTam Dec 09, 2011
By Joe Nobody Beautiful watch, we all know Seiko quality is unquestionable (the one that made in Japan) which is what this one is.
A few days after I purchased the watch, the price went down from $164.-- to $140.-- something. Recommended check out the price daily if interested in this watch.
